I don't know, maybe it's just me but when I think of the word "movie star", I think of the glamorous actors of the 30s, 40s and 50s and when I think of the word "celebrity," I think of Angelina Jolie...Paris Hilton...Eva Longoria... is there a difference or they practically mean the same thing?

Movie stars are, as the name suggests, people who have starred in movies/ a movie.
Celebrity is a group name for all kinds of famous people.

But, "many" can not be a "celebrity and a movie star."

yea babe..i think u nailed it to a degree...movie star..is pretty much jus that ...will smith, denzel,will ferrell, big names u know..but celebrity is just about anyone who gets on tv...regularly i mean....kim kardashin, starr jones, ....ppl who arent known for a particular thing but mostly for who they are orwjhat they did in the past that was stupid

As I see it, movie stars only appear in movies. Movie stars are included in celebrities. Celebrities include musicians, singers, TV actors, talk show hosts, politicians, etc.

I believe a movie star is when you have actually acted in a movie. A celebrity can be anyone in the public eye like Tila Tequila is only famous because of myspace so shes not a movie star but a "celebrity"

I would say a "celebrity" would be someone thats always in the news, but people only know of them b/c of their scandals, or if they're rich (paris hilton, nicole richie etc...) - and a "movie star" would be someone who has been in a bunch of well known movies (julia roberts, meg ryan etc...)
