I am booking an Alaskan cruise for my mum's 50th birthday. I've been given two options on cruise companies Royal Caribbean but a Celebrity cruise liner and Princess Cruises.
The difference in price is a mere £300 and I'm wondering, in peoples experience, which is more recommended.
My nan, 74, will be with us and myself and my brother are in our early 20's.
I was wondering if people could advise me in terms of cabin size (inside), food, facilities and on board activities.
Also, I suppose the age groups count as we have quite an extensive age range in our party.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Princess Grand class ships were the only ships to go all the way to the glacier closer than the others. The Princess ships have a extra thick hull which enables them to get real close to the glaciers even when there is a lot of ice bergs. Princess is also the only one to offer flexible dining. When you are on vacation in Alaska you do not want anybody dictating when you eat. I also think the assigned seating does not work well in Alaska because it stays light outside very late. It also sounds like you may be British and Princess was originally British run and has not lost that appeal. I reccomend Princess and I have cruised over 20 times.
