What will give more horsepower to a 4 cylinder automatic?

I just acquired a 2003 PT Cruiser. It has been lowered, low profile wheels, engraved chrome touches, tinted windows and I want to see what, if any, motor modifications I can do that are reasonably cost effective.

I'm not a PT type person, but if I have to drive it for now, I would like to like it better. It looks mean, so I would like to make it ACT that way too!

Please give me some web sites or referrals to check out in the Sacramento area if possible.
