Is a towing company obligated to inform you before they tow your vehicle?

If car towed off private property and no notice given am I obligated to pay any fees that they claim I will have to pay before returning my vehicle. Is a blank company sticker from that towing company placed on my car considered notice? If no notice is required how does one find out who has the vehicle?

contact your local police department and report it as being towed....towing companies call police departments and inform them that they are towing a vehicle so the owner doesn't call and report it stolen...you will also have to pay any fee before you get your car back

No they're not obligated to tell you. If it's on private property and the property is not yours, then the owner has every right to tow.
