humming noise in rear on a 2003 ford taurus?

since the ford taurus is front wheel drive, and no rear differential to make noise, my question is. I have a humming or grinding type noise coming from the rear of the car. Its a constant hum when driving at a steady speed. Then as slowing down, it begin to slow down as it would be associated with the speed of the turning of the rear wheels. Could it be the rear wheel hubs and bearings? Thanks for any information.
