How do I install GM cross rails on my 2008 Chevy equinox? Instructions are unclear.?

I just purchased GM Accessory cross rails for my 2008 chevy Equinox and the instructions are unclear. The instructions say to use a flat tool to take the end cap rail off, but it does not show or say how or where to use the tool on the end cap. Does anyone know of any tricks to getthis off? Thanks!
