the "engine service soon" light on my car ( ford Taurus 1998) was turned on . I believe the reason is because when i last filled up the gas tank , i did not close the cap properly ( i forgot to snap it ) . I then closed the it , but the light is still on . Is there any way to turn that damn light off ? without going to a mechanic?
you can take it by any auto zone or advance auto parts and use their scanner and turn it off or you can disconnect the battery that will turn it off,but it will still leave a trouble code in the computer for it,its best to have the light re-set with a scanner this way it will stay off,good luck with it.
Disconnect the battery! Then try to turn on the engine and leave it on for an hour. Then reconnect the battery you should be good. If not you can ignore that light any ways!!!
