A front license plate question.

Could a strong magnet,say from an old PC hard drive, be mounted behind a bumper cover of say 2007 Mitsubishi Eclipse,to hold the plate? Will the magnet foul up any part anything in the engine or system in the front of said car? Thanks for your time and answers,in advance!
