Can I legally remove a boot from my tire that was put on by a local towing company?
I got my tire booted by parking at my girlfriend's apartment. I was there 30 minutes and she fed me dinner and came out and bam my tire is booted, its a cheap one so I can easily remove the tire and put on a spare but is it legal?? I dont want to end up paying more if the police show up or something of that sort?
Towing company does not have authority to boot a vehicle. They either have to tow it at that point in time, or they don't get it. The police dept. DOES have the authority to boot a vehicle, and must be removed prior to being towed.
There should be some paperwork to go along with it, under the wiper blade or on the radio antenna. If it was a cheap one and no paperwork, I'd have that thing off as fast as I could, and go on about my business.
