Anyone is an expert on driving?

My parents told me that driving a manual car is better an automatic because they are cheaper to buy, you can save fuel and you can use both hands, so your brain will function much better. Is this true?

My parents are angry at me because I can't drive a manual car!

Well technically they are cheaper, But they are not safer. More people get in fender benders just because its a manual than automatics. They can role backwards and jump forwards when starting. They aren't bad but if you weren't ready or forgot to start it out of gear, the car could totally put you in a wreck. Tell your mom this, "shes going to hate me" . Yes a standard does take two hands and more concentration, So why would you chance it when he goes to text on his phone when driving. We both know he's going to do it, so at least give him less to worry about.
Also, the maintance on a standard cost more than an automatic, You change the fluid in an automatic, but have to pay 1000 to get a clutch replaced. I would go with automatic, but you should defenitely learn how to drive a standard.

Typically fuel consumption is indeed higher (a bit or a lot, depending which brand of car you buy). If you learned how to drive with a manual, you will typically like it better, because you feel more in control. When you learn to drive, it's just one more thing that you have to check and it can be frustrating. But you'll be better off if you know how to drive a manual. Later in your life (a future job maybe) you may need that skill… Cars with a manual are cheaper too indeed…

Yes to the first two. The brain function I am not sure or, also they are better in the snow cause you have more control of RPMs.
Anybody can learn to drive manual, just give it a shot and you'll be pissing them off by dropping the clutch and doing burnouts in the driveway in no time.
Also it sounds like they are trying to pressure you while you are learning. Try taking the car to someplace out of the way, dead ends are good, and learning there, and tell them to just let you do it, and not to say anything about how you are driving if you have questions you will ask Them.

Well actually for fuel and using two sides od your brain, thats fake. A manual transmition car is more badass but its also harder to drive and makes you think about more things while driving and possibly get you in a car collision.

HAHA the whole brain thing there just trying to tell you that because there parents and they make stuff like that up because they really want you to drive one. But saving on gas is definitly true manual cars save soo much gas, and they are actually more fun to drive because they keep you focused and your always switching gears.
