My father co-signed on a car for me and my boyfriend and I were sharing insurance. We broke up and he told me I would be covered until May when actually he cancelled it. Now my registration is expiring in three days and I will have had insurance less than a week. When you apply for your registration they say you have to have insurance for 30 days.. Am I going to get arrested?
Now I have seen some messep **** but what I would do is mabe turn the plate in to see if you can avoid the fines. I know here they can take your license away or get insurance on it yourself but do it fast cause u only have 3 days.
I know fines here range anywheres from 400$ to 600$.
no dont be soft, i missed a payment for insurance, not that i was aware of, and as a result, my insurer cancelled the policy without notifying me. im was driving around for 6 weeks without insurance unbeknown to me, so chill out and relax
Before you can get a vehicle registered or renewed, you MUST be able to preove financial responsibility. In most states this is done by purchasing auto insurance. The insurance company will post your insurance information IN the state DMV database for ALL who have the riight to see it, can view it. You cannot GET a license plate until this insurance requirement is satisified. If you are caught on the road without a proper plate AND they check your insurance status (and they WILL check) you are dead meat. You can be taken to the pokey and the car WILL be impounded with all costs accrued to you. And you cannot GET the car out of impound unless you get it insured (you CAN have it towed out)
i dont think you'll be arrested..but you might have to pay fines...your best bet is to tell them what happened because it doesnt seem like it was in your control
and if worst comes to worst and you are arrested...at least it's for a small thing and i doubt u would have to do any time
