My girlfriend is interested in training in MMA fighting. She is 24 years old and looking for a hobby, and it really seems to interest her. The problem is she doesn't even know where to begin, such as who to talk to, what types of classes to take, etc. We live in San Diego so there is no shortage of MMA gyms, but based on reviewing their websites, none offer clear cut details for beginners. Just looking for a little direction, thanks. . .

go into a few of the highly rated gyms & talk to their managers/trainers- they will lead you in the right direction

make sure you pick a gym with a fight team, that way she can work her way onto it, it is the easiest way to get into amateur events.

Start her off slow. Get her knowledgable about the sport, the culture of it, the major players in it, just all around how it works.

Once she understands the basics, you both go look for a gym and start training.
