What is the title of a juvenile science fiction book about a parasite called "Pard"
written by an MD. I read this story about 25 years ago. A spaceman was backed into a cave by the locals and woke up with this "entity" in him, which he eventually named, "Pard." The author was an MD, and the book was about a symbiotic relationship. However, Pard related to the human's body on the cellular level. Of Pard's particular achievements was that he eradicated cancer from his host, and even built a spare heart.
