What should I call my book?
I want to call my book Ink and Ivory but I also really like the title Lullaby of the Night. Would it be okay to call it Ink and Ivory: Lullaby of the Night, or would that be totally pointless? That way if I have a sequel I could call it Ink and Ivory: Song of yadayadayada. Please give me your opinion, thanks
I am writing a fantasy novel about witches and vampires. It is a fairly dark book, not with happy little elves running around
Plot: The book is about a girl named Lily who has just escaped from a school that trains witches from birth to be cold-blooded killers. She meets a young man and begins to fall in love with him but then realizes that he is a vampire and that she has been trained to kill him her whole life. The young man sees her eyes (they are violet, the sign of a witch) and begins to attack her. Lily doesn't fight back because she feels that she deserves it and she lets him bite her (she becomes sort of a half-vampire, she is only a vampire at night and she bites herself rather than hurt anymore innocent people) So then a Master at the school that she just escaped from tries to kill the vampire and Lily throws herself in front of him and gets injured really badly. She collapses and William (the vampire) pulls her into her arms and kisses her because she just saved his life. When she wakes up he is gone and she is entirely alone and injured in the forest. While traveling she is attacked by the witches and saved by a human girl names Holly who takes Lily back to her cottage and introduces her to her grandfather, Aldrin, who is a with who escaped just like Lily had many years before. Aldrin trains Lily and takes Lily in almost as a second granddaughter. One day while in the market Lily is spotted by a group of vampires who trick her into putting bracelets on her wrists that prevent her from doing any magic. They then take her to a horrible jail where she remains for several years. William eventually comes back (I’m not saying how, haha) and breaks Lily out of jail. Lily knows that he has a girlfriend as she sees him kissing her and their relationship is cold and distant, filled with many icy silences and snappy remarks. William takes her to a secret place where a group of vampires are gathering to begin discussing forming an army to overthrow the witches. The vampires hate Lily (for obvious reasons) but do begin to trust her as she trains them to kill witches most efficiently. The war begins and…That’s all I’m going to say. Sorry for the confusing summary
