My work in progress, I need some help.?
Three Princes of Sri Lanka
A quiet noise in the dark, unexpected and pervasive, brought about a sudden state of full alert.
"What's this?" It hissed, for of course it could not miss the familiar sound of their imminent approach.
"A snack, I sense," and its hunger grew immense as it imagined a tribute fit for a king,
Slowly, they approached. It uncoiled, they encroached, and it bared its fangs by way of toothy grin.
Torchlight. A flicker, not bright but a beacon - to the thing that slid across the cavern floor.
It stopped to wait, dropped to a resting state as the meal made its way into the abode.
They crossed the lair, looked around without a care as it quickly moved to close off their retreat.
The bones, it knew, are what gave the meal a clue as they turned in sudden haste to make their exit.
Three, it seemed, and how delightful when they screamed as the gaping maw reared far above their heads.
Without delay, it commenced to right away begin dining on the smallest of the creatures.
The larger seemed to plead, and one fainted at high speed, though of course it did not matter what food thought.
With a whip of its head, it swallowed the newly dead and snapped up the fainted body from the floor.
The larger one screamed and with its torch, or so it seemed, attempted an unceremonius retreat.
Snapping closed its maw, it pinned the larger with its claw and paused to watch the torchlight fade away
A lot of people here have asked to see some of my "serious" works. Here's an example of a work in progress. What do you think? What needs to change? Your feedback is appreciated.
