...friend sleeps at a post? A post? So the full story is that there's this guy who works at a dock and lives in a small cottage by the sea, right? A friend comes to stay over, and it says that he sleeps in/at the post or something. What is a post? I'm very confused.

it's a place that the guy picked out where he can kind of keep an eye on things or see whats going on around the area easily...... it's kind of like "posting a guard" or asigning a guard a place to watch ...which this guy has chosen to do himself
