Help me find this book. I don't know the title, author or publisher.?
Saw it in paperback in 1977 or 78. Set in modern America (California?). A Hell's Angel crashes his motorcycle into a brick wall after a high speed chase. He is unharmed but goes totally psychotic. A cop hears this from a friend (another cop) and realizes it sounds like the rumored side effects of a new synthetic drug on the streets (note, this was long before the term 'designer drug' became current.) He realizes he must track down the shipment of the drug or the major supplier of the drug before people hear distored reports of the drug and take it to try to become invulnerable to all harm, resulting in a plague of indestructible lunatics running around. That was the first chapter. I think the title was two words, maybe one of them a color. I think it was either the street name of the drug or the code name of the drug kingpin he was hunting. Sound familiar? Doesn't seem to fit established genres. I've looked for this for years and can't forget it. Author or title would be great. Thanks!
