It was designed for ANY device to act as a wireless replacement for wired connections. It was originally used on computers ( I have a mac that had it in 2002 as an add-on option)

such as file transfers or printers but it has expanded to wireless audio and almost anything you can think of in fact if a device does not have bluetooth then its not worth having..
