Bluetooth not working on phone?

ok so i have an AT&T LG shine and i was trying to search for devices, and it never finishes searching...it just stays on the searching screen for FOREVER. and once in a while after a couple of hours, it says no devices found, when there is a bluetooth on NEXT TO ME. my friends try to search for me, and they cant find me either. it is set to VISIBLE, but nobody's bluetooth is finding me. i reset all my settings and everything, and it still isnt working. help?
