a Blu-Ray dvd player? Do I need to replace the cable or does it really matter? Just wondering how much if any it really affects the picture quality when using a blu-ray dvd player. I have monster cable for TV but only basic 1.1 cable for the dvd player.

The HDMI 1.1 decodes 5.1 surround, while 1.3 decodes 7.1 surround. That's about it.
