PS3 Yellow light of death and broken BlueRay disk drive question?

if i have the yellow light of death on one ps3 and a messed up bluRay disk drive in the other could i take the entire disk drive out of the one with the yellow light and replace the broken blueRay disk drive in the other ps3 with it? Or will this cause a problem as well?

what does the blueRay board look like so i know what to keep in

Yes if your other ps3 has a faulty disc drive you can replace it with the one from you other ps3 with ylod. However you have to use the original blu ray board on the disc drive that you are going to put in the working ps3. This is because the the motherboard and blu ray board are paired to one another. It'll work fine. Just make sure you use the original circuit board thats on the drive you replacing and it'll be fine. ALSO they have to be the same style of ps3 obviously. A fat model disc drive cant fit into a slim ps3 and vice versa.

NO, you can NOT replace the Blu-ray drive from a different PS3. The Blu-ray drive is synced to the motherboard, if you change out the whole Blu-ray drive, it will never work again, because you are not able to resync the new Blu-ray drive with the PS3.

You can change out the lens, which houses both the DVD laser and Blu-ray laser, and you can change out the motor, and the plastic gears if they are broken, but do NOT change out the whole drive, the drive will never work again, until you put the old Blu-ray drive back in the PS3.
