My TV display has a grainy look when i watch Blu-Ray movies. Is this normal?

My TV display has a grainy look when i watch Blu-Ray movies. Is this normal?

When I watch Blu-ray movies I often get a grainy picture that i dont get when watching a DVD. This is especially true in darker scenes and is mostly noticed when 3-4 ft or closer. Is this normal and if so, can it be corrected by changing settings on TV or PS3?
