If you're happy with the speakers, then that's a good way to go. You can always upgrade the speakers later if you choose to do so.
Just be sure to check the power the speakers can handle so you don't drive them too hard with the new receiver. In other words, if the speakers are rated at 50 watts, and your new receiver is 100 watts per channel, you run the chance of damaging the speakers because they can't handle the power the reciever is putting out.
