Heat is evenly with a hair dryer 'till it's hot to the touch but not melting. Very quickly put it under a stack of books, even better with some weights on top. -The heavier the better. Leave it for about 24 hours and you'll be good to go.

PS: If it's kinked, you're dead in the water.
