Thread: Does the PS3 launch blueray/dvd movies automaticly?

I was looking at buying a blueray player but I was also looking at the PS3. Does the PS3 know when it's a movie disk and dosn't go into there menu system to run it?

Yes. I believe you're refurring to the PS2's annoying system where you had to tell it what it was reading for it to read it correctly. In my experience the PS3 has fixed that. It will know it's a blu-ray disc when you pop it in. FYI: you will need to controle it with a controller (as opposed to a remote). I thought I should mention that because it bothers some people.

Yes, it will either play automatically (option in settings) or you highlight the disk in the menu and select it to play.
