Blue ray to HDTV and FullHD TV?

Is there big difference in picture quality if i play blue ray DVD on 720p HDTV and 1080p HDTV. My TV size is 42".

Communiity said 37" TV is the screen limit to distinguish the differences. Any body have really try it!! not just passing on the rumours.
