Bittorrent Question - Multiple Zip Files?

I'm a pretty experienced torrenter, but one thing that always confused me was why when you download certain things (mostly games) they download to several RAR files with the exact same space.

When I unzip them, they each contain identical files.

Why are they necessary?

extract the top left most rar and it will automaticall un rar all of them and give you the iso or what ever file is contained in them.
