When is satellite radio going to fix the poor sound quality of the music?

The variety on satellite radio is great, but the sound quality on units I hear is becomming worse and worse. Now the music sounds so digitally compressed, it's as bad as listing to music on AM radio. For talk that's fine, but I listen to a lot of music and want high quality, high fidelity sound like I get from my CD player, or at least as good as my ipod.
The sound quality seems to be getting worse as they add more channels to the crowed bands, but I heard that they should be fixing it soon, which was a year ago.
I'm so sick of regular radio, but am not going to pay for radio that sounds like overly digitized and compressed music coming over a cheap cell phone. Anyone with an inside scoop know when they are going to fix the problem?
