PS3 question (details inside)?

I have read on wikipedia that the PS3 features a slot-loading 2X blu-ray drive for games,then I have read this in the user guide that came packed with my PS3 "Blu-Ray drive:8X",I don't understand,how it is listed 2X on wikipedia and 8X on my user guide?
