Can't get video footage off my video camera (panosonic with model number PV-GS36)?

Hey guys

I got some video footage I want to get off this camera. This is what's happening. I plug the camera into the computer and I put the camera on "pc" mode and the compute recognizes the camera. But when I go to my computer (i have a PC), there isn't anything on there that says "video recording device" or anything. I tried clicking on everything there but the camera wasn't there. What's weird though is that when I go to the bottom right hand corner of the screen it has this symbol that says "eject device". I click that and the camera is there and it says its functioning. I'm pretty good with computers and I'm really annoyed I can't get this. Please, if you need additional details email me, I need to figure this out
