How do I get pictures out of my camera phone into my computer??

my phone is a nokia 6126.
i recently bought a usb conector for it and i thought it woudl be as simple as downloading pictures from my digital camera.. ive connected my phone and nothing pops up, no instructions, no windows. Ive also looked in my phone manual for instructions and there are none whatsoever... HELP!!
