this is how you do it: open your safe. on the inside by the door hinge you will see a small red button. press until yellow light on front control panel lights up. input your new code- up to 8 numbers into front control panel, followed by either A or B key pad. safe will beep 2x to confirm code change. if you get 3 beeps code has not been accepted repeat steps above.
if you get the safe as a gift never lock keys into safe. copy key code (usually letter followed by 4 numbers- example c1234) keep in a safe location other than inside safe so you can find it if you lose your keys. you may contact harbor freight tools with key code if keys are lost and they will assist you. harbor freight tools can be found via internet.

when green and red light on key pad cover are both lighted its time to change your batteries. use 4 AA energizer or duracell lithium ion or
Ni Mh rechargeable batteries. this will ensure long life between battery changes

for added protection place duct tape over battery cover door inside your safe. this will protect batteries from falling out if the cover makes contact with items inside your safe and forces open the cover. then you wont be able to open safe and must use keys to open it.
