The Arizona entrepreneur, says Bessemer's forgiving David Cowan, in his portfolio company's defense, was mentally ill. "Robert suffers from bipolar disease, a serious mental health disorder that invariably leads to impaired thinking and erratic behavior when untreated," writes Cowan, one of the investors who've pumped $14m into Lifelock's identity-theft business.
