...the computer? My computers trying to recognize the ipod nano with my Original ipod wire and yes it fits perfectly, but the computer screen shows a large ipod instead of a nano. ANd its been trying to recognize it for a long time and still hasn't.

I think you are using a firewire cable. You must use a USB cable for the nano. The newer ipod do not support firewire because Apple stopped using it. It was faster than USB 2.0, but the ipod had to be bigger if they used firewire.

just get a new cord thingy. you can find them on ebay, and I'm sure they'll have them on Apple's website.

yes you can, the ipods have changed many times over the years, but apple, has been reluctant to change the charging system.
