    I have high cholesterol but have had a heart cath and was told my...

    ...arteries were "clear as a bell".? Do I still need to be concerned about the high cholesterol? I walk 3 - 5 miles a day.

    Yes, obviously you are doing the right things to maintain your good health. Exersize and a low fat diet will lower your ldls and sometimes raise your hdls. I suggest you read a little to increase your knowledge about your health.

    First, there is "bad" cholesterol and "good" cholesterol. If the good cholesterol is high, or even if the total cholesterol is high, it is not a problem. The problem arises when the bad cholesterol is bad.
    Now, doctors generally know this, and when they say your cholesterol is high, they usually mean the bad cholesterol. So I am guessing that it is the bad cholesterol that is high; but I don't know for sure.
    If you have always had high cholesterol, and nevertheless your arteries are clear as a bell, I guess you may not need to worry. You are different from the average.
    But if your cholesterol has recently gotten high, it hasn't had time to do damage yet. In this case, you should be concerned and try to lower your cholesterol.
    No doubt your walking helps strengthen your cardiovascular system, and also helps to use the cholesterol properly.
