Is your car a front wheel drive? It sounds like the boot on your CV drive axle is broke/ ripped? The grease that is inside the boot has an ink like look to it. I would check there. It doesn't sound like brake fluid to me because brake fluid is a somewhat clear liquid?

Do you have brakes? If not, it is likely a broken brake line. If it is a powder like residue, it is dust off of the brake pad.
