How do i gain more separation while attacking the rim?

When i play basketball against people my age i can blow by people anytime i want. But people from high school say im not as quick to do that. what should i do (on the court, no drills) to increase my chances of beating my an and take it to the basket?

I'm not sure if this is legal or not but this real good player on my team does it all the time and it works. When going for a lay-up go up with the ball in one hand and try and stiff arm your defender with the other hand in mid-air. When attempting this try and hide your stiff arm because the refs often call this one. Also, this only works with only one guy on you. There is a really good chance of getting blocked if there is someone else there too.

here's what I do fake a 3 point shot and then drive it to the hoop for an under handed layup, they bite on it every time it also helps if your a deadly 3 point shooter like I am

use your body, don't be afraid to play a little rough, don't foul like crazy but use your body because basketball is a contact sport. if you have to get mad or even just think of how much you want to win and show up the older players. and if you have the quickness and skill to blow by people use it. don't be afraid to put on the speed and use all those dribbling skills and fake out the defender and go right by. good luck, and remember have fun!
