Thread: formatting media card for blackberry phone?

I just bought a blackberry curve. I put a media card inside. I went to options and then clicked on media card. The options came up and at the bottom there is a note that says,

" media card cannot be read. Verify that the memory card is formatted."

I push the menu button and click on "format card". A few seconds later it says "formatting memory card failed". What do I do now??
