Are you OK to see GMC Ford & Chrysler sink?

I would like to see new companies with new cheaper and cleaner technology come out of this?

    What about you?

Throwing more good money after bad won't help.
They ought to be broken up & each plant run by the employees.
Let them compete with each other for the best innovation.
They could set standards for interchange of parts.

I have a couple of ideas:

First, give the big three a Gov. contract to produce all the Country, State and County vehicles and make them all run on hydrogen.

Second impose a tariff on hydrogen vehicles coming from the asian or european markets.

Third, in order to help subsidize this project, freeze all of OPEC's importation and have them eat their oil for about 15 or 20 years. Charge the oil companies a energy tax on their profits for the past 5-6 years and flood the market with our oil surplus we have in LA and TX.

Your thoughts are great but very idealistic. If they go down, so do hundreds of suppliers to the auto industry and it will certainly put over 3,000,000 American workers out of work.

    Now what are your thoughts?

I think that it isn't so bad if they go out of business. What would start to happen is little companies would start popping up everywhere and these little companies would make partnerships with each other to put their cars parts together to make cars. Cars would have more "swappable" parts and they would be cheaper and probably better cars too. The big three need to die if they aren't productive. Why keep something that doesn't do it's job right and isn't totally efficient? So I think it would be great to see these companies go under...

If they go down, so will America. The huge factories supply way too many jobs to too many small towns

GM and Chrysler were going to merge anyway. GM builds our military vehicles....hummer and M1-A tank..not to mention every train engine running the rails...Chrysler builds the Cummings diesel that power our semi-trucks.

I say let Ford die...merge the other 2 and we only have one to bail out. Let them get back on their feet after they fire the CEOs and eventually buy up the Ford market and we will have the best car on the planet within 5 years!!!

FORD=Found on Road Dead....Failed on Race Day....FU**** up Old Rebuilt Dodge....Fix Or Repair Daily.....or backwards....Driver Returning On Foot.

Too many jobs lost and a huge ripple through an already bad economy.
I'd like to see them stay and have them pull there heads out.
