Wouldn't US automakers be profitable if they actually made cars people want like the ,200 Nano as opposed to large SUVs?

Why can't/won't American car companies make cars like the Tata Nano?

Because it doesn't pass US safety standards?
Oh, I don't know, that might be a major reason......
And it's made with sub-US standard materials, so it wouldn't be legal to drive....
Besides, considering how many people buy SUVs every year....I think they're doing just fine on profit, lol. Americans want large vehicles. They always have.
