Where is the thermostat for a 1993 Ford Escort Lx?

I followed the hose from the radiator the the block and removed the hose. There was no housing that I could tell. I stuck my finger in the block where I had removed the hose from and felt nothing. Now what?

Try doing your same procedure except do it on the lower radiator hose.

There was no housing that I could tell to you guys but it is best that you would search online because it is more wider than local...
