what should i do about my 95 cadillac transmission ?

i have a 95 cadillac deville 4.9L. i was driving it and it felt like the transmission began to slip so i pulled over and turned it off. i cranked it back up and began to drive it and it wouldnt go any faster than 25mph without making a popcorn noise. my dad took off the the transmission fluid pan and found little metal flakes in it. he also said it was low in fluid. he said the engine idles fine. so what r my options. how much would it cost.

Did adding fluid help? Most pans have little flakes in the bottom after a few years. That doesn't really mean much by itself. The popcorn noise could have been the transmission pump cavitating.
