my 2001 chevrolet s-10 extreme wouldnt start so we bought a new starter relay and then it would start but today it just clicks again when u turn the key to start what could cause the relay to keep going bad

First I would check the battery. Be shure it is up to snuff. How old is it?
Next check the cables for corrosion. Feel the cable is is smooth, does it feel like it has bumps under the plastic coating. If it does replace it as it is corroded inside where you can not see.
Check the ground where it is attached to the block. Do this loosen it then re tighten it.
Check the battery clamps are thy tight???
Check these things.

I would check the starter. They can have intermittent problems. U know work fine one day then not at all the next. The relay may have been fine all along. Check all the connections in the starter circuit. Be shure they are clean and tight. When the truck isn't starting and its clicking hook a test light to the small wire on the starter. Not the big one that goes to the battery. See if it lights when you turn the key. If it does you're relay is fine. Replace the starter or have it rebuilt. Get it tested first.
