Price diference of civic and lincoln.?

Hello from brazil.I saw one honda civic on ebay selling at $6,000,and one lincoln town car at $5,500.The question is why the lincoln is cheaper than Civic, they have the same miles, and one is 1999 and other is 2001.
lincon is a luxury car and civic is not so.In Brazil these cars have prices so different from each other.

sorry for my english,is not so good xD.

And happy new year for everybody

There are a variety of possibilities for why pricing varies. No way to tell but here are some possibilities:

    1. Location. Prices vary from place to place. Even comparing prices for identical vehicles in one town and another 100km away will show some differences in pricing. Demand may be higher in one location for a particular sort of vehicle than another, resulting in a higher price.

    2. Depreciation. Cars in general drop SIGNIFICANTLY in value very quickly. Luxury vehicles tend to depreciate even faster than workhorse vehicles (like the civic). Part of that is because people who gravitate towards such vehicles tend to want the prestige, and having an older model from a decade back isn't going to have that prestige, unless it's a fairly rare vehicle (Lincolns aren't rare, and aren't really all that prestigious).

    3. Repair cost. Beyond the prestige, there's the matter of the luxury. Luxury vehicles are stuffed with toys. As the cars age, those toys gradually break and stop working, and become ridiculously expensive to fix. A workhorse vehicle is going to cost you a lot less to keep in service over the lifetime of the vehicle, which makes it more desirable in older vehicles.

    4. Fuel cost. A town car is a gas guzzler. It'll cost you a lot to feed it. A lot more than something more efficient like a civic anyways. With the cost of fuel these days, fuel hungry vehicles have become a lot less desirable, and the value of such vehicles has plummeted in recent years, with a corresponding spike in resale prices among smaller vehicles.
