I started buying Blu-ray Discs in 2006, taking advantage of the sales that were on during the format war. I now have around 125 of them.

The difference is incredible. I find it hard to even watch DVD's now, but my Blu-ray upconverts so those that I do want to watch it's no problem - I don't need to replace my entire DVD collection, only the ones I really love like Close Encounters. No doubt when movies like Gladiator, Jurassic Park, Back to the Future, etc., come out on Blu-ray I'll replace those too.

It's only $100 more than a good upconverting DVD player right now to get into Blu-ray anyway, and the difference in prices on Amazon for new release titles is within a couple bucks, so if you've got an HDTV there's very little reason to not get a Blu-ray players. You can get them at Wal*Mart now for under $299 and before Christmas they'll be $199.

I love Blu-ray just for the increase in sound. It's so nice to finally watch action movies with an uncompressed or lossless soundtrack.
