Yeah pretty much,
The internet on the iPhone is not 'free' as such, the Wi-Fi connects to nearby networks adn even then you may have to have a password.
The N96 will have the exact same technology in terms of internet/connection as the iPhone; 3G, HSDPA, GPS and Wi-Fi
