Would an iPad 1 still be ideal for just a little tablet to play around with?

I have only about $100, and I've seen iPad 1's on Ebay for very cheap. I already have a desktop, and an iPod 4G for mobile stuff, but I was just wondering if they're fun to play with. I don't game on them, I just use them for internet and YouTube. Even then, only basic stuff, like Wikipedia, Yahoo!, etc.
Again, not looking for anything really serious, just a new toy.
