my 1992 ford explorer has a 6cyl 4.0 liter 2 wheel drive. my transmission is leaking very badly when it gets hot between the bell housing and the engine on the bottom. it pours out when it gets really hot, and i have no slipping and it drives just fine, but i dont want to drive it in fear of damaging the transmission due to lack of lubrication and heat. ive already replaced the transmission filter and checked the trans cooler for clogs and damage and it all checks out just fine. so i was wondering what the problem could be? Im probably going to pull the tranny out myself to save money and im very mechanically incline, i just wanted to narrow down the "could be" problems so i can fix them while i have the tranny out.
