my samsung galaxy phone memory is full?

I have a samsung galaxy which has a memory card but my phone keeps having a red icon saying memory full.
I do not have many apps insalled I have around three conversations saved but I can't understand it.
My phone also keeps asking me to update apps but I can't do this due to the memory been full
please help

Simple. Format your memory card via your PC or your phone (It should have the option).. If you have not installed apps or songs even videos, it is worth reformatting your memory card...

Unless you really have an important data, that I can't help you.

Reformat it and your done!
