Is it wrong of me to try to get a respite bed for my mother so I can take a vacation?

I've been looking after my mother who has dementia for 10 months now, alone. I had to quit my job and move 600 miles away from my kids and grandkids. my sister, who lives in this town, ans is supposed to help me out by taking her every few weeks for overnight, does her damnest to find work out of town for weeks at a time, and then actually complains when I ask her to take me grocery shopping. It was only supposed to be for a few weeks until the county got mom a bed in a nursing home, but for some reason, she was removed from the list, twice, and now is at the end of the list again. and now I have to spend Christmas alone with just my mother, and no money or vehicle to take her anywhere. so, despite what my sister says, would it be so wrong for me to take a vacation by getting mom a respite bed in hospital.
